We use Fundations in our classroom to learn the alphabet. Fundations teaches students the letter name, the picture, and the sound that goes with the letter. We say the alphabet every day in our class, therefore it's important for you to know how we learn it so you can better help your child at home with recognizing letters and the sound they make. Students will need this in order to begin making words.
If your child is not familiar with the alphabet or needs extra practice, use this video as extra practice at home. Have your child say the cards aloud with the video until he/she can say it without hesitation. After that, use alphabet flashcards in random order and have your child tell you what the letter is, the sound it makes, and the word that it begins with it. This is a helpful exercise to do at home.
